    Shatta Wale Lamborghini Seizure

Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has taken possession of a 2019 Lamborghini Urus owned by renowned dancehall musician Shatta Wale. This development follows an official request from the FBI and the United States Justice Department, who are conducting investigations linked to financial crimes involving the vehicle.

The luxurious SUV was discovered parked at Shatta Wale’s residence in the highbrow Trassaco Valley area of Accra. Authorities say the vehicle was acquired through illicit means by Nana Kwabena Amuah, a convict currently serving time in the U.S. for various financial fraud schemes.

A statement by EOCO’s acting director, Raymond Archer, explained that the car was seized during a coordinated operation in June. The search, carried out by EOCO’s Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit, was lawful and pre-approved by necessary authorities.

Initially, Shatta Wale, whose real name is Charles Nii Armah Mensah, allegedly urged EOCO officials to keep the operation confidential, noting the vehicle's value to his brand image and public persona.

However, he ultimately cooperated and surrendered the Lamborghini voluntarily, with EOCO confirming that the process was smooth and without confrontation.

The agency now holds the car in custody and is working to repatriate it to the United States as part of the effort to recover $4.7 million owed by Amuah in restitution. The case has drawn international attention due to the involvement of a high-profile Ghanaian celebrity.

Both Shatta Wale and a former senior official from Ghana’s National Signal Bureau have been identified as persons of interest and are expected to be questioned further as investigations continue.

EOCO also mentioned that they may submit a final case report to both the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice, solidifying cross-border cooperation on the matter.

Following the incident, Shatta Wale took to Facebook to express his displeasure over the manner of the seizure. He particularly criticized EOCO for sending armed officers during the search and accused them of attempting to humiliate him in front of his staff and neighbors.
