Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, widely regarded as one of the most iconic and influential figures in the history of professional wrestling, has sadly passed away at the age of 71.

According to a report by TMZ Sports, emergency responders were dispatched to Hogan’s residence in Clearwater, Florida, in the early hours of Thursday morning after a suspected cardiac arrest. Witnesses noted the presence of multiple police vehicles and emergency medical technicians at the scene. The WWE Hall of Famer was seen being placed on a stretcher and transported into an awaiting ambulance.

Hogan’s death comes shortly after a public denial from his wife, Sky Daily, who had recently refuted viral rumors claiming that Hogan was in a coma. She assured fans that his heart was “strong” and that he was in recovery following several surgical procedures. This followed rising concern from fans after Hogan underwent a serious neck surgery in May, which sparked speculation about a decline in his health.

Born Terry Eugene Bollea on August 11, 1953, Hogan skyrocketed to international fame during the 1980s, becoming the face of the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), now known as WWE. Known for his towering physique, trademark handlebar mustache, bandana, and booming catchphrases like “Whatcha gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild on you?”, Hogan helped transform professional wrestling from a niche sport into a mainstream pop culture phenomenon.

Outside of the ring, Hogan became a household name thanks to his roles in films, television shows, and countless commercial appearances. His image was especially embraced by children, cementing his role as a hero both in and out of the squared circle. The “Hulkamania” movement defined a generation of fans and brought unprecedented attention to the wrestling industry.

In a career-defining moment in 1996, Hogan shocked fans around the world by turning heel (villain) for the first time in decades. He co-founded the New World Order (NWO) faction in World Championship Wrestling (WCW), adopting the new persona “Hollywood Hogan”. The move was a major turning point in wrestling history, revitalizing his career and ushering in a period of booming popularity and commercial success for the industry known as the “Monday Night Wars.”

Over the course of his storied career, Hogan won numerous world championships, main-evented multiple WrestleMania events, and became a two-time inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame — first for his solo career and later as part of the legendary NWO faction.

Hulk Hogan’s impact on the world of professional wrestling and entertainment is immeasurable. He leaves behind a legacy that spans decades and continues to inspire countless athletes and fans worldwide.
