Influencer Raises ₦22M for LASU Student’s Leg Surgery

Popular influencer on X, Sir Dickson, has successfully raised ₦22 million in just two weeks for a young man named David Obadiah, also known as Baddy of LASU, to undergo a much-needed corrective leg surgery.

David, a student of the Lagos State University (LASU), was born with a medical condition known as bowlegs — a deformity where the knees remain wide apart when the ankles are together, creating an outward curve of the legs. Despite undergoing multiple surgeries in the past, the condition persisted, affecting his mobility and confidence.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, X user and philanthropist Wizarab initiated a crowdfunding campaign to support David’s medical procedure. The campaign quickly gained momentum online, with hundreds of Nigerians contributing generously to the cause.

Among the prominent donors was Afrobeats superstar Davido, who supported the campaign with a generous donation of ₦3 million, further amplifying visibility and credibility to the fundraiser.

As of August 5, 2025, the total amount raised stood at an impressive ₦22 million, surpassing the target and ensuring that David can now undergo the surgery he has long awaited. The news brought immense joy not only to David but to thousands of supporters who followed his story online.

Announcing the milestone, Sir Dickson took to X to share the update with heartfelt gratitude:

“In exactly 2 weeks, we have raised N22m. Some people still sent money last night. You all made it possible!!!

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I do not take your trust for granted. ❤️🙏🏾”

This successful campaign has once again demonstrated the power of collective action on social media and the ability of Nigerians to unite in support of those in need.
