Nollywood actor and musician, Jigan Baba Oja, has spoken out to defend his name amid allegations that he was part of a covert celebrity group chat aiming to mislead the public and derail justice in the wake of Mohbad’s death.
The controversy ignited after outspoken social media commentator Verydarkman leaked alleged WhatsApp group chats, implicating several public figures including Jigan, Iyabo Ojo, Samklef, and others. According to the allegations, the group was supposedly created to spread misinformation, manipulate public perception, and silence critics calling for a thorough investigation into Mohbad’s untimely passing.

In a prompt response, Jigan took to his Instagram account to firmly refute the claims, stating that his presence in the group had nothing to do with any conspiracy. He explained that he had joined the group solely because of a mutual interest in seeking justice for the late singer.
Jigan disclosed that he had only met Mohbad briefly—just three weeks before the singer’s death—during a video shoot. That short encounter had piqued his curiosity and led him to engage in efforts to uncover the truth about what really happened to the artist.
He emphasized that there was no secrecy in his participation in the chat group and that all of his comments were driven by a sincere desire to uncover the truth behind Mohbad’s death.
“I was posting on my page for Mohbad’s justice when I got a message asking if I was interested in a movement aimed at getting justice for Mohbad. That was what led me there; nothing is hidden about my interactions on the group,” Jigan clarified in his statement.
He further noted, “On the group, we simply asked what could be the cause of his death and so on. I have no reason to hide anything if I know anything about Mohbad’s death.”
The video of his explanation has since gained traction online, with many fans and followers weighing in on the matter.
