Popular Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has opened up about the real reason she temporarily stepped away from acting, revealing that she was placed on a ₦1 million weekly wage by an anonymous individual who believed in her and wanted to support her financially.
Speaking on the podcast show, Curiosity Made Me Ask, hosted by popular content creator Bae U Barbie, Nkechi shared details about the generous offer, stating that it came at a time when she wasn’t earning enough from movie roles to sustain her lifestyle or career growth.
She emphasized how the financial aid allowed her to take a much-needed break from Nollywood, without worrying about income. According to her, despite being a known figure in the film industry, the earnings from acting weren’t as rewarding as many might assume.
“Someone anonymously put me on a ₦1 million weekly salary because I wasn’t getting paid enough for movie roles — that’s why I took a break from acting,” she said during the interview.
“I can’t shoot a movie and I might not even make up to ₦1 million profit from it,” she added, giving insight into the economic struggles that actors often face behind the scenes, especially when film projects don’t generate significant profits.

When the host asked her to reveal the identity of the benefactor who gave her such consistent financial backing, Nkechi declined to disclose the person’s name, keeping the mystery alive and sparking more speculation among fans and followers.
“It’s not your business,” she responded firmly, suggesting that the relationship was deeply personal and not open for public discussion.
Her revelation has since generated buzz on social media, with many praising the anonymous supporter while others speculated about who might be behind the weekly payments.
