Popular preacher, Pastor Paul Enenche, has taken aim at the government, condemning what he described as the deepening hardship and widespread suffering being endured by ordinary Nigerians.
As part of his regular ministration, Pastor Enenche delivered a powerful sermon in which he detailed the crushing realities faced by citizens—struggling to pay rent, feed their families, and meet basic needs—while calling out the nation’s leadership for turning a blind eye to these crises.
He particularly emphasized the disconnect between the ruling class and the public: despite the extreme suffering around them, the country’s leaders seem unbothered, insensitive, and in some cases, even mocking the pain of the masses—treating it as a source of amusement.
According to Pastor Enenche, this disturbing indifference reveals a deeper spiritual malaise. He suggested that Nigeria is under a metaphoric “blanket”—a force of evil or sorcery—that dulls the nation’s empathy and traps citizens in unbearable conditions without protest.

“I’m very persuaded that a blanket of evil, a blanket of sorcery, the blanket of the occult that has blanketed our nation. Apart from the fact that the people that you are pastoring and shepherding are suffering and in pains..no matter how big you are, you can run empty meeting everybody’s needs in this season. Is it house rent, children’s school fees, is it food? Uncountable number of needs. There are places now people have to line up after service for assistance and the people of the land are behaving as if nothing is happening. It is a spell of tolerance and suffering. A spell of patience in captivity. Being in love with your chains. If it’s not a spell, there is no where things like that happen and everywhere remain – there is no way in the world. Where those in the highest level are practically insensitive, even making a joke of the people’s suffering. Let poor people breathe. And then one of the most wicked person that ever ruled a country died and people are praising him….”
