Two TikTokers, Saheed Jamiu Osama and Uyime Godwin Udoekwere, have been remanded in custody following allegations that they falsely accused Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, of murder.
The pair were arraigned before Justice Ibrahim Kala at the Federal High Court in Lagos. They face multiple charges including conspiracy, cyberstalking, and defamation. The legal proceedings stem from a protest and social media campaign in which the defendants made bold and inflammatory accusations against Omowunmi Aloba.

According to reports, the incident occurred during a public demonstration where Saheed and Uyime were seen holding placards that read: “Wunmi Killed Mohbad! Period! E No Go Better For Wunmi.” The signs, along with accompanying videos, quickly spread across TikTok and other social media platforms, drawing significant public attention and outrage.
These actions led to their arrest and subsequent arraignment. The charges pressed against them emphasize the seriousness of making defamatory and unverified claims online, especially when it involves sensitive issues like the untimely death of a public figure.
The Federal High Court ordered that both individuals be held in custody at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending the outcome of their trial. The case has been adjourned until September 25, 2025, when full prosecution proceedings will commence.
The development has sparked renewed conversations on social media about the limits of free speech, responsible content creation, and the consequences of spreading unverified allegations in the digital age.
As the legal battle unfolds, the public continues to watch closely, especially considering the high-profile nature of Mohbad's death and the ongoing efforts to uncover the full circumstances surrounding it.
