Reality star, Uriel Oputa has spoken candidly about the challenges many women face in finding decent men in Nigeria, as she opened up about her views on love, relationships, and her admiration for Don Jazzy.
She shared her thoughts during a recent interview on the show "Outside the Box," where she didn’t hold back in expressing frustration over the state of modern relationships in the country.
According to Uriel, the dating scene in Nigeria has become increasingly difficult, especially for women in their 30s and 40s. She expressed concern over the number of "extremely pretty" women who remain single despite their desirable qualities. Uriel attributed this trend to a cultural mindset among many men who constantly believe there is always someone better around the corner, which makes them hesitant to commit.
She emphasized that the issue is not a lack of good women, but rather a shortage of emotionally mature and committed men who are ready to settle down and build meaningful relationships. This belief, she said, contributes to a cycle of dissatisfaction, where many potentially great relationships are abandoned prematurely.
Her words in part …
“You’ll see a woman in Nigeria now, she’s 35, some of them are even 40, 41. They’re still single – fine fine girls, but they’re still single. Why? Ogini? It’s hard to find a decent man in Nigeria and it boils down to what? We have a culture of ‘there is always something better.’ there’s nothing better.
I love Don Jazzy. I know I will blow up but I feel like... he said something about not being able to stay with one woman…”
Netizens’ reactions …
@_OnosOnos said: “The reason they’re single isn’t lack of decent men, it’s just that the men they want aren’t enough to go round, which is why polygamy should come in”
@abazwhyllzz said: “Her definition of a decent man is a rich man, nobody wan marry broke and funny boys like me”
@tsetseSBM remarked: “Honestly,
What Uriel said is valid. A lot of women in Nigeria are single not because they don’t want love, but because it’s hard to find emotionally mature, honest, and secure men. Nigerian men want submission, but they don’t offer stability. They want peace, yet they bring chaos. You can’t keep failing as a partner and still expect women to settle.”
