Controversial activist and social media commentator Verydarkman has shared a new account of his involvement in the Mohbad saga, revealing that his main aim was to vindicate singer Naira Marley, who had faced wide criticism following Mohbad’s death.
In a detailed narrative published online, Verydarkman recounted a meeting with Naira Marley at the National Cybercrime Centre (NCCC) office of the Nigeria Police Force. During the encounter, he alleged that Naira Marley informed him that actress Iyabo Ojo had personally pleaded for forgiveness backstage.
Initially hesitant, Verydarkman described being led into a room where he faced Iyabo Ojo alongside her legal counsel. He claims that her lawyer proposed not only a public apology but also a promotional collaboration: Iyabo would support Naira Marley’s next release as part of the reconciliation effort.
He said, “Naira Marley agreed to forgive Iyabo Ojo, even though he doubted she would publicly clear his name. He said she’s very manipulative.”
Verydarkman went on to detail a formal roundtable held at the NCCC, attended by Iyabo Ojo, Tonto Dikeh, Sam Larry, their lawyers, and NPF officials. He claimed Iyabo admitted that her allegations against Naira Marley stemmed from emotional reaction to Mohbad’s passing and offered an apology during the session.
“Sam Larry also asked her to clear his name and she did. She said all her accusations were based on viral videos,” he added.
He further alleged that Iyabo requested two weeks to prepare a written public apology with her legal team, but that within five days, no apology had been released. Instead, blogs began circulating a misleading narrative that cast Naira Marley as the supplicant.
“Then came the story of her shop burning and a blog post making Naira Marley look like the one seeking her favour. That’s when I knew she was doing damage control,” he claimed, accusing her of reversal tactics.
Verydarkman defended his decision to leak content from a private WhatsApp group involving Iyabo Ojo and others, asserting that he did so to expose a breach of the agreement reached at the NCCC meeting.
