Tragedy strikes as a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed into the premises of Milestone School and College, causing widespread devastation and loss of lives.
According to confirmed reports, the horrifying incident took place on the afternoon of Monday, July 21, 2025, when the aircraft lost control and plummeted into the educational facility. The impact resulted in at least 20 confirmed fatalities, while more than 170 individuals sustained varying degrees of injuries, many of them students and staff.
Eyewitnesses recount that the aircraft had departed from a nearby airbase at approximately 1:06 pm local time. Moments after takeoff, the plane reportedly began experiencing technical issues before crashing into the crowded school campus in the northern Uttara area of Dhaka.
Emergency response teams were quickly dispatched to the scene, including firefighters, medical personnel, and military officials. Several injured victims were rushed to nearby hospitals, with some said to be in critical condition.
The Bangladesh Air Force has since launched an official investigation into the crash. A high-level committee has been formed to determine the cause, with preliminary assumptions pointing to a possible mechanical failure or technical malfunction shortly after the aircraft left the runway.
In light of the tragic event, the Government of Bangladesh has declared a national day of mourning to be observed on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Flags will fly at half-mast, and prayers will be held in various institutions across the country in memory of the deceased.
