Senate President Godswill Akpabio has made a bold statement regarding the upcoming 2027 presidential election, asserting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is “undefeatable,” unlike former President Goodluck Jonathan, who was removed from office in 2015.
In a recent post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Akpabio criticized ongoing political alliances formed by opposition parties aimed at unseating Tinubu. He dismissed the efforts as weak and ineffective, stating that the same strategy used in 2015 would not work in 2027.
While addressing supporters, Akpabio emphasized that the Niger Delta region had already assessed Tinubu’s performance and found him worthy of another term. He noted that the region plans to unanimously back the president for re-election in 2027.
He said: “The Niger Delta region has assessed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and found him fit to continue in office beyond 2027. Let other people who are conspiring— they did it before—this time around, the entire Niger Delta will speak with one voice. We’re telling the president: on your mandate we stand. No conspiracy.”
Akpabio added that Tinubu’s administration had brought a level of attention and recognition to the Niger Delta that had not been seen since the time of Dr. Joseph Wayas, 46 years ago. He cited the establishment of two higher institutions—the University of Environment and a University of Science in Ogoni land—as key developments under Tinubu’s leadership.
The Senate President’s declaration has sparked intense debate on social media, with many Nigerians reacting to both the message and the political implications of his words.
