The Ondo State Police Command has officially confirmed the death of Oladele Femi, a landlord widely known as “Tallex,” who was the prime suspect in the abduction and murder of two Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) students.

Femi reportedly passed away while in custody after a mysterious illness he developed worsened despite ongoing medical treatment. He had been under close monitoring since his arrest and was frequently taken in and out of medical facilities for care.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, confirmed the news to the media on Saturday, stating, “Yes, he is dead. He had been under medical supervision since his arrest and had been in and out of the hospital. He passed away yesterday.”

The landlord was arrested after being implicated in the chilling case of the disappearance and suspected murder of two AAUA students — John Abba and his female companion, Eloho Okah — who went missing on June 20, 2025.

Femi allegedly confessed to masterminding their abduction. While the decomposing body of Eloho Okah was eventually found, efforts are still ongoing to recover the remains of John Abba.

In a further development, the police disclosed that two other suspects — identified as Kola and Michael — have also been arrested for withdrawing ₦800,000 from Abba’s bank account during the time the victims were missing.

Authorities also recovered a Lexus RX 350 SUV belonging to the late John Abba, which was traced to one of the newly arrested suspects. The case has generated widespread outrage, with calls for justice and improved safety for students renting accommodation off-campus.
