Luis Diaz is set to officially become a Bayern Munich player within the next 24 hours, following a £65 million transfer agreement with Liverpool. The Colombian international is now on the verge of ending his spell at Anfield, having reached full personal terms with the German champions.
This latest development was confirmed by renowned football journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who revealed that Diaz has been granted permission to leave Liverpool’s pre-season camp in Asia in order to finalize the move to the Bundesliga giants.
“Plan confirmed for Luis Diaz: new Bayern winger will arrive today in Munich and he’s set to complete medical on Tuesday.
“Four year deal to be signed in next 24h,” Romano posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Liverpool are expected to use the incoming funds from Diaz’s transfer to accelerate their pursuit of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, with the Reds aiming to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season.
Diaz, who is 28 years old, had joined Liverpool for their pre-season tour in Asia but was notably absent from the squad that faced AC Milan in a recent friendly fixture.
Speaking after that match, Liverpool manager Arne Slot acknowledged that Diaz’s omission was due to the uncertainty surrounding his future, indicating that discussions were ongoing behind the scenes.
Following those developments, the club has now officially given Diaz the green light to depart the tour and complete the switch to Bayern Munich, bringing an end to speculation over his next destination.
Liverpool had made multiple attempts to extend Diaz’s contract over recent months, but their efforts were ultimately unsuccessful, as the winger expressed a desire earlier in the summer to consider new opportunities away from Merseyside.
