Nigeria’s Super Falcons have made history once again after defeating Morocco 3-2 in a thrilling final match of the WAFCON 2025 tournament, securing their 10th championship title and walking away with a staggering $1 million prize money.
This cash reward, which is twice the amount given in the previous edition, marks a significant milestone as the Super Falcons become the first team to receive the increased payout following the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) revision of prize structures. They also became the first to hoist the newly redesigned WAFCON trophy.
The final, held in Rabat, Morocco, delivered high drama as Nigeria came back from a two-goal deficit. The comeback began with a stunning strike by Esther Okoronkwo, followed by an equalizer from Folashade Ijamilusi. The match was then sealed in the dying minutes by a heroic late goal from Jennifer Echegini, sending Nigerian fans into celebration.
With this win, the Super Falcons continue their reign as Africa’s most successful women’s football team, reaffirming their dominance and resilience on the continental stage.
