Fresh revelations have come to light regarding the tragic kidnapping and subsequent murder of two students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), whose disappearance had sent shockwaves through the university and the wider Ondo State community. The students, identified as 25-year-old Friday Abah and 19-year-old Eloho Okah, were declared dead following a detailed investigation by the Ondo State Police Command.

According to the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, the two students were abducted on June 20, 2025, and their brutal killing was later confirmed after a thorough investigation. The police began probing the case following a petition filed by the victims’ families on June 24, prompting an immediate response from the command's criminal investigation unit.

Police officers were able to trace the case to Lagos through forensic technology and mobile phone tracking. This led to the arrest of 38-year-old Abdul Mohammed Mubarak, who was found in possession of an iPhone 14 Pro Max belonging to one of the deceased students. During questioning, Mubarak confessed that he had bought the phone from one Ojo Michael, who was subsequently arrested in Aramoko-Ekiti.

Upon interrogation, Michael revealed shocking details about the abduction and murder. He confessed to being part of a criminal gang that orchestrated the crime and named Oladele Femi, the landlord of one of the victims, as the mastermind behind the operation. Femi allegedly coordinated the abduction and brought Michael and another suspect, identified only as “Kola,” into the plot. “Kola” is currently on the run, with law enforcement agencies intensifying efforts to apprehend him.

The gang's objective was to kidnap and extort the students for money. During their captivity, ₦800,000 was withdrawn from Abah’s bank account. However, the plan spiraled into a murder case after Eloho Okah reportedly recognized Michael. Fearing exposure, the gang decided to eliminate both students to cover their tracks.

The victims' bodies were disposed of in a remote area between Agbado and Ode-Ekiti. Okah’s corpse has been recovered and sent for autopsy, while police search efforts continue for Abah’s body, which is believed to have been dumped in a nearby river.

Additionally, the stolen Lexus RX 350 SUV belonging to one of the victims was recovered during the investigation. Commissioner Lawal emphasized the police's commitment to ensuring justice is served, stating that all individuals involved will be prosecuted according to the law. He also reassured the public that the search for the fugitive suspect, “Kola,” is ongoing and that the police will leave no stone unturned in bringing him to justice.
