A devastating road accident has claimed the lives of six family members who were returning home from a funeral in KwaZulu-Natal. The tragic incident occurred on the afternoon of Monday, July 14, 2025, along the R42 Meyerton–Heidelberg Road.
According to eyewitnesses and police reports, the white Ford Focus carrying the victims collided head-on with a truck around 3:30 p.m., resulting in a fatal crash that left all passengers in the car dead at the scene.
The victims have been identified as David Khehla Malindi (68), Anna Malindi (61), Mhlanganisi Malindi (35), Phindile Malindi (33), Xolani Bocibo (27), and three-year-old Lwandle Malindi Tshabalala. All six resided in Unitaspark, Vereeniging, and were closely related.
The tragic loss has left the Unitaspark community in mourning, with many residents expressing shock and sorrow over the heartbreaking event. Neighbours and local leaders have also voiced concern about the safety of the R42 route, calling for immediate government intervention to improve road conditions and signage.
On Saturday, July 19, 2025, a deeply emotional funeral service was held in their honour. Hundreds of people, including extended family, friends, and members of the community, attended the ceremony to pay their last respects and support the grieving relatives left behind.
